This is a pretty funny parody of 300. That sharpened carrot is one deadly weapon.
May 2007 – Fourth Warmest on Record
This past May was the fourth warmest ever recorded (since the late 1800’s, anyway). Jeff Masters, over at Weather Underground, has details. From his article:
May 2007 was the fourth warmest May for the globe on record, and the period January – May of 2007 was tied with 1998 for the warmest such period ever, according to statistics released by the National Climatic Data Center. The global average temperature for May was +0.53°C (+0.95°F) above the 20th century mean. Over land, May global temperatures were the warmest ever measured, the second straight month that has happened. Ocean temperatures were a bit cooler (ninth warmest on record), thanks to the cooling associated with the disappearance of the winter El Niño event. The global temperature record goes back 128 years.

Batman: The Dark Knight
The sequel to Batman Begins is filming right now and is shaping up to be a great movie. The returning cast:
- Batman: Christian Bale
- Alfred: Michael Caine
- Jim Gordon : Gary Oldman
- Lucius Fox: Morgan Freeman
The new cast:
- Rachel Dawes: Maggie Gyllenhaal (replacing Katie Holmes)
- Joker: Heath Ledger
- Harvey Dent: Aaron Eckhart
Tremendous cast, and there’s a rumor that Cillian Murphy may show up again as Scarecrow. The movie is scheduled to come out July 18, 2008. Next summer should be great for comic book movies with this in addition to Iron Man and the new Hulk movie.

Flight of the Conchords: The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room
I love this show…this song absolutely cracks me up.
You’re so beautiful, you could be a tree or a high class prostitute.
26 Climate Change Myths
This article from New Scientist clarifies a lot of misconceptions about climate change.
Some of the highlights:
- We can’t trust computer models of climate.
- It’s been far warmer in the past, what’s the big deal?
- It’s too cold where I live – warming will be great.
